The
LXX's semantic equivalent for the MT's qelâlâh (curse) is
katara, which links Rebekah's action in this text to Galatians 3:13-14,
where Jesus is described as taking on the curse (katara) of the law in order
that the excluded nations might be brought in. "Christ redeemed us from
the curse (katara) of the law by becoming a curse (katara) for us--for it is
written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"-- in order that
in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that
we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith" (NRSV).
