Disciple! Seminar

Right from the start of his earthly ministry, Jesus recruited disciples, who left everything and followed him. They journeyed with him as learners, witnessing firsthand his powerful encounters with individuals and crowds. These experiences transformed their lives, launching them as apostles in his global liberation movement. His last words to them in Matthew’s Gospel were “make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I’ve commanded you.”

What does it mean to be a disciple? What does it look like to “make disciples today?”

Spiritual and psychological wholeness requires a multifaceted process of conversion, liberation, and discipleship. Jesus-followers who are called to accompany others in their spiritual journey need training that brings together perspectives and skills that are often separated. The People’s Seminary seeks to integrate Word, Spirit & street/justice perspectives in raising up disciples, with a special focus on accompanying people often excluded due to addiction, poverty, mental health issues, trauma and incarceration.

The People’s Seminary is offering a one-session seminar that will address these topics from three complementary approaches: Biblical, Spiritual and therapeutic. This stand-alone training will serve as a kind of “taster” for The People’s Seminary’s new diploma—"Disciple! Integrated Accompaniment for the Jesus Movement,” and serves as it’s launch. The teaching will be done by Bob and Gracie Ekblad and Heidi Basely
